Born and raised in the housing projects of the South Side of Chicago, Michael E. Ellington is a living testament to resilience, faith, and transformation. With family roots stretching back to Alabama and Tennessee, Michael's early life was shaped by the strong values instilled by his devoted parents.
He attended Corpus Christi Catholic School, where he gained early exposure to both discipline and the hard realities of his environment. Though he faced significant challenges, including dropping out of high school and being involved in gang life, Michael’s journey took a dramatic and purposeful turn at the age of 22. It was then that he reconnected with his faith and committed to transforming his life.
That spiritual and personal shift led him to California, where he met the love of his life, Betina, in 2003. After getting married in 2005 and celebrating the birth of their first son, the couple made the decision to move to Texas in September 2006 to plant roots and raise their growing family.
Determined to create a better future, Michael earned his GED and pursued vocational training in automotive, truck, and diesel technology at Lincoln Tech in Grand Prairie, TX. He went on to build a solid career as a truck mechanic from 2010 to 2023, demonstrating a strong work ethic and dedication to craftsmanship.
In 2019, Michael earned his license as a real estate sales agent, and by 2023, he made the bold decision to pursue real estate full-time — combining his blue-collar discipline with a white-collar vision.
Michael specializes in working with homeowners who are struggling to sell, particularly For Sale By Owners (FSBOs) and expired listings, using innovative strategies to revive listings and help clients move forward with confidence.
In addition, Michael was recently honored by Texas REALTORS® as a Texas Affordable Housing Specialist (TAHS) — a designation that equips him with the tools to assist first-time and underserved homebuyers and support sustainable homeownership across Texas.
He has also received a Certificate of Achievement from the Texas Department of Housing and Community Affairs (TDHCA) as a Down Payment Assistance Specialist (DPA), making him highly knowledgeable in real estate finance, Texas down payment assistance programs, business, and government housing solutions.
